Course Overview and Objectives
“And God created man in His own image,
in the image of God He created him;
male and female He created them.”
– Genesis 1:27
In Genesis 1:27, it tells us that God created mankind, male and female. The creation of the human person is the centerpiece of all of creation because man is the only created being with an essence linked to God’s image! To be made in God’s image means mankind can reason, think, love and relate to God in a way that is unlike the animals or even the angels. God intentionally created us male and female to reveal some of the different aspects of His nature. When we live in agreement with our design as men and women, or boys and girls, we have the privilege of revealing glimpses of God’s nature through our behavior. Our differences as male and female can be seen early on, and of course, there are many similarities as well. God’s Kingdom plan includes a differentiation of the two sexes and both sexes are equal co-heirs in Christ. Male and female is a powerful part of our individual formation, and it is a powerful foundation truth for building His Kingdom.
This course will give you a variety of ways to consider what it means to be male or female and why sexual differentiation is important to God’s plan for human flourishing, family formation and the Gospel. This course will also help you address the gender confusion that is prevalent in the culture.
